The Importance of Attendance

Every school day counts

Why Attendance Matters at Mullingar Community College?

Regular school attendance is essential for your child’s learning, wellbeing, and development. Every day in school helps students build knowledge, confidence, friendships, and routine. Missing the occasional day may not seem significant, but these absences quickly add up. Across Ireland, one in five students miss the equivalent of a month or more of school each year, which can have a real impact on progress and achievement. When children and young people are well enough to attend school, it is important that they do so. Every school day is a fresh opportunity to learn, reconnect, and succeed. By working together, families and Mullingar Community College can help ensure every student reaches their full potential.

We understand that sometimes children are unwell or have unavoidable absences, but we ask for your support in keeping absenteeism to a minimum. Please continue to use Tyro as a way of tracking and communicating any absences for your child. Thank you for your continued support in helping every child get the most from their education.
