This one year* programme, validated by QQI, is designed for students seeking to train for a career in Accounting and Finance. Students learn essential skills to progress to Accounting Technician Apprenticeship. It is also ideal for students who wish to get a points for Business or Arts courses in Third Level collegesThere is an emphasis on developing workplace skills in the area of Bookkeeping, Accounting, Taxation and Spreadsheets. This course introduces learners to key business techniques and concepts and the factors which influence business success.
*This is a daytime course (Monday – Friday), school hours, from Mid-September to April (8 months). One day per week will be in the work setting.

An accounting technician supports the work of accountants by undertaking a wide range of accountancy, financial and taxation tasks.Graduates of this course fulfil the minimum requirements to be registered as an Accounting Technician Apprentice and train in a professional accountants’ office or in a local business.Through the QQI FET Links Scheme-Graduates can apply entry to Year 1 of related courses in the Business area in Universities and many Business and other courses in Institutes of Technology with continuity of SUSI grant / BTEI if applicable.
